As a congregation, we do not commemorate December 25 as the birth of Jesus because the Bible does not indicate when Jesus was born nor does it instruct us to celebrate the day of His birth. However, we cannot ignore the fact that many people are thinking about Jesus during this time of the year. Thus, as the birth of Jesus is on people’s minds, whether intentionally or unintentionally, let us answer the question posed by the song “Why Did My Savior Come to Earth?”
For to us a Child is born,
to us a Son is given;
and the government shall be upon His shoulder,
and His name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”Isaiah 9:6
