Ever since the Garden of Eden mankind has been wrestling with something that one preacher called “Empire Desire”—the desire to be in control. And, as a result, control has often become an idol that we worship. In this lesson, we will explore the various ways in which we bow to the idol of control, what makes control a counterfeit god, and what it will take for us to stop worshipping it. What we have to realize is that in order for us to be right with God we have to have the right order when it comes to who’s in charge.
23 And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. 24 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. 25 For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself?”
