Marriageology: Holy Matrimony

Marriageology: Holy Matrimony

Sermon Handout

During the course of my ministerial career, I have been questioned about no subject more than marriage. For some reason, marriage is one of, if not the most challenging issue confronting the faith of many. Because issues related to marriage are so prominent in the world as well as the church today, it is time we explore what the Bible says about marriage both theologically and practically. It doesn’t matter if you are single, married, engaged, divorced, or widowed, the Bible has something to say to you about marriage.

10 Have we not all one Father? Has not one God created us? Why then are we faithless to one another, profaning the covenant of our fathers? 11 Judah has been faithless, and abomination has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem. For Judah has profaned the sanctuary of the Lord, which he loves, and has married the daughter of a foreign god. 12 May the Lord cut off from the tents of Jacob any descendant of the man who does this, who brings an offering to the Lord of hosts!”

Malachi 2:10-12
