BYG Scotland Mission Trip Day1.5

Greetings from Perth Scotland, we made it!!! On Friday June 29th, ten BCOC missionaries left the building at 5:30pm to Atlanta airport.  After checking in and going through security, all searched out a great last USA dinner as we waited for our flight to leave at 10:15pm. After our dinners we boarded and settled in for a 9 hour flight to London.  Many watched movies while others read and others slept off and on (best you can sitting up right),…

Four Truths About The Day Of Judgment

Jesus spent a lot of time talking about a final judgment. Through His parables, Jesus indicated the next life will be inaugurated by a universal judgment. In the parables of the Wheat and Weeds (Matthew 13:24-30), the Good Fish and Bad Fish (Matthew 13:47-50), the Wise and Foolish Virgins (Matthew 25:1-13), and the Sheep and the Goats (Matthew 25:31-46), Jesus presented a judgment scene in which a separation between two groups occurred, resulting in one being saved and the other…

MISSING THE MARK

At the 2004 Olympics in Athens, the United States’ best marksman was a man named Matthew Emmons. He won a gold medal in the men’s 50 meter rifle prone position competition, and was on the precipice of winning another gold medal in the men’s 50 meter rifle three position competition. With one shot remaining, he was in the lead and only needed to hit the target in order to secure another victory. Normally, the shot he made would have received…

TURN THE OTHER CHEEK

In his book Simple Faith, Charles Swindoll told the following story… A successful Irish boxer was converted and became a preacher. He happened to be in a new town setting up his evangelistic tent when a couple of tough thugs noticed what he was doing. Knowing nothing of his background, they made a few insulting remarks. The Irishman merely turned and looked at them. Pressing his luck, one of the bullies took a swing and struck a glancing blow on…
Family

HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER

Throughout the Bible, children are viewed as a blessing to their parents. Such is the case in Psalm 127:3-5 where children are referred to as “a heritage from the Lord” as well as “a reward,” and it indicates the one “who fills his quiver with” children is “blessed.” However, in order for children to truly be a blessing to their parents, they must understand the proper relationship they are to have with their parents. That is where the biblical command…

A PEOPLE NOT A PLACE

Often times we confuse a brand for a product. For example, some people refer to facial tissue as Kleenex. It is true that Kleenex is a popular facial tissue brand; however, Kleenex is not the only facial tissue brand. Therefore, not all facial tissue is Kleenex. The same thing happens when some people refer to adhesive bandages as Band-Aids. Band-Aid is an adhesive bandage brand; however, Band Aid is not the only adhesive bandage brand. Therefore, not all adhesive bandages…

MORE THAN WORDS

According to research conducted at the University of Arizona and published in the July 6, 2007 issue of Science magazine, the average person, regardless of gender, speaks approximately 16,000 words per day.[1] That results in 5.8 million words spoken annually and more than 400 billion words spoken over an average lifetime. Needless to say, that is a lot of words, and the number does not even include the words we write, type, text, or post! With so many words being…
