Vacation Bible School 2016 - In Review

VBS2016 logo2During VBS we looked at what it means to be God's Champions! Over 200 students attended VBS each night along with countless adults and volunteers! We learned how to be God's Champions using examples of Focus, Endurance, Strength and Teamwork found in the Bible.

Some highlights from the 2016 Buford Olympics:

  • Evan Talksalot and Julia Jabbers kicked off our sessions with a Daily Recap and a spotlight on the day's topic
  • Classes were held in both a basketball arena and an Olympic pool
  • Children participated in crafts, games and singing to emphasize the lessons
  • Examples of local Champions were displayed around the foyer
  • Our Information Center was transformed into a merchandise stand and the lower level hallway was converted into a track & field venue
  • Over 400 school supplies were donated and will be distributed through SOPA and Camp Outreach

As always this event required an enormous number of volunteers to make everything run as smoothly as it did. We are thankful for everyone who took time to make this a successful VBS. We are also thankful for the opportunity to reach so many visitors and pray that will continue to be drawn to God.

Vacation Bible School 2015 - In Review

To God be the glory for another successful VBS! We averaged 470 each night! There was so much going on during the four nights of Bread of Life, so you may have missed:

  • Entertaining food shows featuring The Bearded Ladies, Abe Lincoln, King Leonidas and The Swedish Chef
  • Bible lessons on Daniel, the Israelites, Jesus and His disciples and the Fruits of the Spirit for the children and adults
  • Skits that retold the Bible lessons and applied them to our lives
  • Yummy snacks, fun games and awesome crafts that reinforced the lessons
  • Everything ‘food’ from a candy/ice cream shop, picnic area, Italian restaurant, lemonade stand, bakery, 50’s diner, a real food truck and more
  • We collected over 800 items to benefit Raintree Village!

We pray that seeds were planted & watered and souls were spiritually fed during the week. It took over 120 volunteers to make it all happen, so thank you to each of you for your time and hard work.

Vacation Bible School 2014 - In Review

VBS2014 web2Key Verses: Matthew 6:19-21, “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Over 400 “treasure seekers” attended VBS each night. A ship crashed into the church building, bringing with it pirates Bald Bart, Captain Fuzzy Beard, Cannonball Clark and little Jake! During the night, youth enjoy games, classes, crafts, snacks and a Bible story skit. The Service Project for this year was to collect non-perishable food items for Raintree Village Children’s Home in Valdosta, GA. VBS is an event that has over 100 volunteers. We would like to thank everyone for the many hours of hard work and preparation to make it happen. Please pray that treasures were given that will help more to come to know God! - Jack and Tracy Thompson

Vacation Bible School Summer 2013 - In Review

vbs2013logowebKey Verse: 1 Peter 2:5, “you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a Spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer Spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ."

God has blessed Buford with another successful VBS.  Through Blueprint Building (class), Break Time (games), Work Site (crafts), Food Truck (snacks), skits and singing , we learned to build a strong spiritual house.  There were approximately 400 children and adults  in attendance each night. The children's donation of change for Latin American Missions raised over $1000!
VBS is a huge event that takes over 100 volunteers.  We can't thank everyone enough for the many hours of hard work and preparation to make it happen.  Please pray that seeds were planted and more will come to know God through these efforts!  - Jack and Tracy Thompson (Coordinators)

Vacation Bible School

VBSVacation Bible School (VBS) allows children and adults to explore the Word of God in a fun and exciting way. We use skits, games, crafts, songs and stories to bring the Bible alive over the course of a few nights. Each year a specific theme is picked to create a memorable summer experience for all. The goal of VBS is to teach God's love and spread the Gospel of Christ.

Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
