Daily Bible Reading
Guide (Option 2) |
|
This is a guide for reading the whole
bible with understanding. The New Testament will be
read through twice and the Old Testament once. It is
recommended that a specific time each day be set aside for
reading. |
|
The Old Testament portions are
presented as nearly as possible in chronological order, with
the exceptions of Job and the Psalms. The passages
from the prophets have been included in the historical
narrative where they were spoken. Where duplicate
accounts of a narrative are given, they are often included
in a single day's reading. |
|
The Psalms will be read at scattered
points throughout the year. Frequently, a psalm that
fits a particular passage has been placed with that passage. |
|
The New Testament reading includes,
first of all, the Gospel account of Luke and Acts.
these will give the basic story of the New Testament.
These selections are followed by the letters, with periodic
passages from the Gospels, and, finally, the book of
Revelation. Thus the material of the life of Christ is
constantly related to our Christian living. |
|
Portions of some of the chapters may
be scanned or eliminated entirely when lists of names and
genealogies have been included. the first of Matthew,
part of Luke 3, Genesis 10, and sections of Numbers and 1
Chronicles include such lists. These names were very
important to the Jewish people, but have little meaning to
the average Bible reader today. |
|
God's blessings rest with those who
will read and live by His Word. May this guide help
you to know and understand more fully the Word of God. |
